Zalman CNPS2X Low Profile CPU Cooler
Zalman’s new 27mm high 1U ultra slim CPU Cooler with a high quality heatpipe and premium copper plate, makes it even easier to cool hot running processors (up to 120W) in a confined enclosure.
The CNPS2X is probably the smallest cooler available on the market today that is capable of cooling processors up to 120W. It uses DTH-S bending technology and as a result it creates optimal heat dissipation. Being a top down design, air is blown straight down from the fan onto the mother board so not only does it cools down the CPU it also helps to cool the surrounding motherboard components too.
Features
- 120w cooling power
- Low noise 17.4 - 22.7 dBA
- DTH technology
- Optimised fin structure
- 80mm PWM fan (1500 - 2600 RPM)
- Light compact size
Zalman have opted for a powerful but quiet 80 x 80 x 10mm PWM fan which also helps keep the height of the cooler to a minimum. The fan spins between 1500 and 2600 rpm and perhaps surprisingly for a 120w capable cooler, the noise levels only range between 17.4 dBA on minimum speed, rising to 22.7 dBA at maximum.
Although rated at 120W, we would recommend only using the cooler on CPU’s of 95W or less if noise is an issue in order to keep the noise and heat levels to a minimum.
The CNPS2X stands just 27mm tall with a diameter of 84mm and its compact size makes it an ideal CPU cooler to use where space is limited, particularly in small home theatre cases.
The CNPS2X stands only 27 mm tall
Compatibility
The CNPS2X is compatible with a wide range of sockets including the latest Intel and AMD sockets and it is supplied with Zalman’s own high performance ZM-STG2 thermal grease which helps to maximise the heat transfer from the CPU to the base allowing optimal cooling performance.

Customer Reviews
Quiet, but not silent
I’ve previously used the Zalman CNPS8000B Ultra Quiet Low Profile CPU Cooler but, as it was out of stock when I needed a cooler, decided to try this model as an alternative. The cooler is very compact and, for a PC that is very short of space, could be a good choice.
It is difficult to judge just what the quoted sound levels mean in a real system. For me, the CNPSB8000B was undetectable with the PC about 18” away (actually had to look at the motherboard to confirm it was rotating!) but the CNPS2X isn’t as quiet. At 18” away from a cased PC I am just aware of the fan noise with a room temperature of about 20C. If the PC was under the desk, I’d probably not hear it at all.
If I hadn’t used the CNPSB8000B then I’d think this was fantastic, but I now know that better is available… when they are in stock!
