PC memory is often disregarded as having any need for special cooling because it is traditionally thought of as not generating much heat. However, in recent years this has slowly changed as memory performance has improved to keep pace with processor development. Nowadays, almost all memory modules have heatsinks or heatspreaders built into them as part of their design, and if you touch them you might be surprised at how hot they run!

Naturally, it makes sense to keep heat inside the PC under control, as this will improve reliability and longevity.
