Features

  1. Real-time display of PC uptime and overall power usage
  2. Ultra-clear FSTN display with wide viewing angle
  3. Four sensors for temperature monitoring and display
  4. Monitoring and control of 3 standard fans and 1 PWM fan
  5. Alarm system to notify non-operation of any of the fans
  1. Power Load Meter: Displays Power Load between 10 ~ 999W. Readings between 1 and 9W are shown as “Lo” and readings above 999W are shown as “Hi”.
  2. Timer: Timer shows how long it has been running. It is reset when the computer is turned off.
  3. RPM Display: RPM is displayed in units of 10RPM. Values of 200RPM and below are shown as “0”. Values between 201 ~ 6000RPM are supported by the display.
  4. Temperature Display: Displays temperatures between -9C and 99C. Temperatures below -10C are shown as “Lo”. The Display will blink temperatures between 80 ~ 99.9C and display “Hi” for temperatures above 99.9C.
  5. Fan Channel Display.
  6. Jog Wheel: The Jog Wheel is used for adjusting Fan RPM and selecting a the Fan Channels. RPM can be set from 60 to 6000RPM in units of 60RPM. Please note, if the maximum speed of the fan connected is limited to less than 6000RPM, then the fan speed can only be increased to its limit.

Unlike the cheaper MFC-1 Plus, the MFC-3 is a complex fan controller… It may look a little like a 1980s car stereo, but it does a lot for £40. It may be expensive, but the MFC-3 can monitor power consumption as well as controlling four fans.

Smart product but with flaws

,

This is a very smart fan controller which can display lots of valuable information. My main gripe with this controller is how it connects to the CPU cooler. Most CPU coolers come with 4 pin PWM fans these days that allows the BIOS to control the fan speed up and down according to load on the CPU. Unfortunately there is no cable provided to connect the CPU cooler to the fan controller and the motherboard allowing the BIOS to control the speed and output the RPM on the controller. You can bypass the BIOS control and connect the CPU cooler to the motherboard but this would seem to be a significant step backwards.

What Joshua is saying is correct, but the ZM-MFC3 is designed to give the user control over the speed of the fans and not the motherboard/BIOS.
