Overall, there really isn’t anything I could think to change about the X-vision that doesn’t rely solely on personal preference. It is solid, well-built, works and is easy to use, and has any of the monitoring options I’d want, and the LCD is attractive.

We are definitely fond of the Aerocool X-Vision fan controller. Reason being is that Aerocool decided to make the unit simple to use and simple in appearance. It only requires common-sense to use the unit, thanks to its single dial and four buttons. In no time we were tuning the fans right where we wanted them.

A capable controller - but with suspect PWM capability

Despite the fact that channel 1 is advertised as PWM-capable, I found it useless. When following instructions to the letter (connecting the channel 1 extension to the motherboard PWM header), the CPU fan failed to operate. As a result, I’ve had to abandon the notion of running the CPU PWM fan off it.

Other than that, it’s an excellent unit. I like that I can set a specific desired fan speed for each channel (in 50rpm increments), and channels 2-5 can be turned off completely if desired. Channel one can’t be turned off (it’s intended as a CPU cooler channel), it can only be lowered to a minimum of something like 50% of peak.

I also like that installation is simplified since all the cables are already attached to the head unit. And it’s a good thing that a spare thermal sensor is supplied as well, just in case.

Don’t be surprised that on power-up the fans will go full-power first, and then gradually spin down to the desired RPM. And if you want, you can turn off the display too.
