Xilence Icebox Passive Hard Disk Cooler

The Xilence Icebox uses similar technology as the Zalman ZM-2HC2 at keeping the hard drive cool and quiet. The only obvious difference is that the Icebox uses a large black heatsinks as well as heatpipes, compared to just heatpipes which is what the ZM-2HC2 uses.

The large heatsink is in direct contact with the top of the hard drive. The hottest part of the hard drive is often the top metal plate so by having the large heatsink directly attached to it effectively adds a heat spreader to the top of the hard drive and therefore aids cooling.
