WON'T BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF....

I've been running a pair of these in a raid array for a while now. They have the classic HDD seek noise, but during constant operation they are quite quiet (hard to hear them over the HDD cooling fan, especially when compared to the previous 7200RPM drive I was running), and run noticeably cooler than the 7200RPM drives (again, the previous 7200RPM got VERY warm to the touch, these are noticeable, but hardly "hot").

Definitely slower than a 7200 when it comes to outright performance (the raid pair scored 5.9 on the windows test), but hard to argue with when you consider the noise and heat generated by most 7200RPM drives. I would almost say these are a must for any media box. Buy multiple and raid them if you really want more performance.

Personally I'm coming back for a third one and going RAID5.

A GOOD QUIET DRIVE WITH REASONABLE PERFORMANCE

Although not totally silent this drive is very quiet compared to the normal 7400+ RPM types; you'll have to be listening very closely in a quiet room to notice it when it's mounted in a decent case. It runs quite cool and so it can easily be put into an acoustic enclosure, in which case you'll be hard pushed to tell it's even running. Performance isn't stunning but is still more than adequate for most tasks including media-PC work.
