Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Dual Heatpipe VGA Cooler

Anyone who has heard the noise of ATI’s and nVidia’s latest stock graphics card coolers you will know how much noise they generate. This is why Zalman continue to provide high-end performance products that not only perform better than the stock coolers but are also far quieter. When running at the slowest fan speed Zalman’s VF900 produces only 18.5 dB(A). You would need to be very close to the cooler to be able to hear it: it is that quiet!

As you can see from the image above, the main visual difference between the VF900 and the VF700 is that there are two heatpipes that run around the circumference of the cooler. Because the heatpipes are also attached to the base of the cooler, the heat is transferred to the edges of the fins much quicker. This better heat distribution makes the VF900 a great performing graphics card cooler.

The VF900’s 80mm fan is controlled by a FANMATE2. This controller is able to change the fan speed from 1350 to 2400 RPM, which also affects the amount of noise it produces. This flexibility means you can either have an extremely quiet cooler or one that delivers high performance, or somewhere in between.

Compatibility

The VF900 is compatible with all graphics cards that have push pin holes around the GPU, except the following: ATI 9550 and 9600; nVidia 8800, 6600 AGP and 7800GS; and all Matrox cards. For more information please see

Reviews

  • PC Pro Magazine, Sep 06

The results are indisputable. At the fan’s slowest speed of 1,350 rpm, our 7900 GT dropped from a peak of 67°C in Far Cry with Nvidia’s stock cooler to just 53°C with Zalman’s, and was much quieter too. 6/6 stars.

  • Computer Active

The quietening result was miraculous. Replacing the small, fast-moving fan of the standard cooler with the much larger, slower fan of the Zalman, combined with the huge heatsink, means the graphics card is reliable, but whisper-quiet.

  • PCW Magazine

From a quiet (18.5dB) 1,350rpm up to 2,400rpm for ultimate cooling (25dB), this is another beautifully crafted cooler from Zalman.

  • Custom PC magazine

The New King of VGA Cooling - At £24, the Zalman is pricier than the Accelero, but it’s worth forking out the extra cash for it, as it’s cooler, quieter and better looking.

  • PC Format

It’s just as easy as replacing the heatsink on your CPU. A joy to fit and a lot quieter than ATI’s fans. Rating: 85%

Awesome GPU cooler!

,

Wasn’t sure whether it would fit or not because it doesn’t say anywhere but I bought this for my Powercolor ATI Radeon HD4670 and it fits perfectly. Temps were about 70[deg]c idle and went over 100[deg]c when under load with the noisy stock cooler.

Now temps are 40[deg]c idle and no more than 70[deg]c when under full load. It’s totally silent when in idle and still barely audible at all even when it’s at full speed. Great product from Zalman, and excellent service from Quietpc.com - arrived 2 days after ordering even though I went with the cheap [“]up to 7 days[“] postage.

Excellent Product

This cooler is amazing! Totally silent with the fanmate and its dropped the temps on my previously stock cooled 4850 by 35c!
