The perfectly rounded torpedo-like Moneual 701 is a self contained Media Center that contains virtually everything you could possibly ask for from a Media Center System.

Innovative Cylindrical Design

The diameter of this aluminium tube is only 216mm by 413mm long and inside there you will find a fantastic array of components. Mini ITX motherboard, 7½” LCD display, dual core CPU, a standard 3½” 500GB hard drive, dual layer DVD/CD drive, fanless ATI HD4350 graphics card, 2GB DD2 memory and much more are all beautifully engineered in this one-of-a-kind all aluminium chassis.

7½” Touch Screen LCD Display

The front LCD display can be used as a standard monitor, albeit a very small one, or as a form of media information. The latter is possible through the supplied iMON FrontView software. Information such as track name and running time, system information, movie info and much more is all possible. You can even use the LCD display to navigate through your media file thanks to the touch screen functionality. Soundgraph, the developers of the iMON software, have put together a YouTube video of FrontView in action, so feel free to have a look.

Front Inputs/Outputs

The front of the Moneual 701 includes all the buttons you would expect from a high-end media centre system, volume control, power button, card reader IR receiver are all present. On the top of the system you’ll find a slot loading DVD writer and two USB 2.0 ports. Finally at each end of the case there integrated speakers which output a total of 3W. Obviously these can be by passed if you intend to you external speakers.

Rear Inputs/Outputs

Located at the rear of the case is an array of connections. The first one is labelled Power, this is where the laptop like PSU is connected to provide power to the system. Next there is LAN/USB2.0 and after that there is all important HDMI port. This HDMI port will also transfer audio if you require sound to come through your TV speakers. Next of the list is Audio Line In and Optical (Digital Audio Out). The Optical output is designed if you want to connect the system to an external amplifier. Last but not least is six audio output connects. This is ideal if you just want to connect your 5.1 surround sound speakers directly to the 701.

Accessories

The final items that deserve a mention are the accessories that are supplied with the system. You’ll find a radio controlled keyboard that includes a mouse ball tracker with USB receiver. There is also a remote control, a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD USB TV Tuner, Windows Vista Home recovery CD and a HDMI to DVI and RCA to stereo connectors to increase connectivity.

PLEASE NOTE that due to upgrading the LCD screen to use the fantastic iMON software the media/volume buttons to the right of the LCD screen do not function. We recommend you control the system either by the wireless keyboard or the supplied remote control.
