Having been on sale for a quarter of a century, the Cherry G80-3000 series of keyboards are a timeless classic. If you’re the kind of person who expects certain keys to be in certain positions and you don’t like it when keyboard manufacturers try to “improve” the layout, then this could be the keyboard for you. Based in Germany, Cherry is the world’s longest-running keyboard manufacturer. The G80-3000 uses mechanical keyswitches which last for around ten times the number of actuations compared with cheaper membrane designs so you can be assured of accurate and reliable performance for many years.

Reliability through quality

The keytops are cylindrical rather than flat, so they are ergonomically designed for your finger tips. Their key markings are permanently etched using a laser production process so they will never wear off, unlike screen printed keys which are often to be found on cheaper keyboards.

The product code G80-3000 refers to a whole family of keyboards which are available in many variants such as casing colour (black/beige), different international keyboard layouts and types of keyswitch. This special version that we sell at Quiet PC uses Cherry MX Blue tactile switches which are harder to find in keyboards but many users consider them to have a nicer feel than other types of switches.

Because they are tactile (i.e. non-linear) switches, there is a reassuring click when a key is depressed. The keys have a responsive feel and a higher actuation force (60 cN) than MX Red or MX White switches, giving a more positive typing experience. They are often compared to the feel of rubber dome keyboards but with a much longer service life.
